OVERVIEW

Take a Break Adult Activity Puzzle Book is a collection of engaging and challenging puzzles designed for adults.

The book offers a variety of themed puzzles, including crosswords, sudoku, word searches, and more, providing
a fun and stimulating way to unwind and relax.

The challenge was to design a cover that would be sold during the Summer months and accurately depict the current season. It needed to catch the eye of puzzle enthusiasts browsing bookstore shelves while also being suitable for individuals at all skill levels, from beginners to experts. Additionally, the book had to be full-sized and feature a large print design for easy readability.

KEY OPPORTUNITIES

Highlights & Features

2

Marketing to a Larger Range of Consumers

By promoting that the magazine is in Large Print, the publisher is communicating that their magazine is accessible to a wider range of customers, who may not have been able to engage with similar products before. This can help to increase the magazine's market share and sales.

1

Communicate Value

The call-out-burst creates a sense of value for the reader. By prominently boosting the number of puzzles inside the magazine, communicates to the potential customer that they are getting a substantial amount of content for their money.

3

Generate Interest and Excitement

Seeing the puzzles on the cover can generate interest and excitement in potential customers. If they see puzzles they are particularly interested in or have not seen before, it can encourage them to purchase the magazine to solve those specific puzzles.

Solution

To achieve this goal, I designed a cover that prominently displays the number of puzzles included in the book to emphasize its value to potential buyers. Additionally, I prioritized a user-friendly design by utilizing a large print format that would cater to this demographic.

To capture attention and evoke positive emotions, I chose bright and engaging colors for the cover. The exciting and fun aesthetic aims to increase interest and engagement with the product, helping it stand out on store shelves or online marketplaces and ultimately boosting its appeal and visibility in a crowded marketplace. Since this issue would be on sale in the Summer months, I incorporated yellows and complimentary blue colors to associate with feelings of warmth, happiness, and energy.

Final Thoughts & Takeaways

It's important to consider the context in which this magazine will be sold and displayed, and I designed a cover that will stand out from other magazines on the shelf.

This may involve experimenting with color, typography, and layout to create a unique and memorable design that catches the eye of potential readers.

Ultimately, the goal was to create a cover that not only looks great, but also effectively communicates the magazine's value and relevance to the reader.
